Headlight polishing

Over time, the UV-protective varnish on the car's polycarbonate headlamp will start to yellow. If there is no such protective layer, the headlight material (like all plastics) will start to degrade under the UV rays and a thin, matt layer will form, which will eventually stop letting in as much light. Anything that the headlamp encounters, i.e. dust, pebbles, insects, ice particles, when they hit the headlamp, will scratch it in tiny scratches of a few microns.
